Accommodation
There are a number of accommodation options for international students, including 16 Strawberry Hill Road (our international hall of residence, see below), De Marillac Hall and Old House (which has male-only and female-only corridors). This accommodation is handled by our Accommodation Office.
International Hall of Residence
Situated in a peaceful, leafy residential area right next to our campus, 16 Strawberry Hill Road is a popular accommodation choice with international students. The beautiful 19th century Victorian property was refurbished in 2009 and is located a two-minute walk from the University College and Strawberry Hill Station.
The hall comprises eighteen single study bedrooms on three floors, with shared bathroom facilities on each floor. The size of the hall and range of nationalities of students living there each year mean there is a friendly atmosphere and a good community spirit: for example, this year students have held a number of dinners to introduce fellow residents to their country's culture and cuisine (eg Vietnamese Night, Korean Night).
Meals
The cost of the accommodation includes a refectory meal package (available during term time only) which includes breakfast Monday to Friday, brunch on Saturday and Sunday and a meal every evening. All meals are taken in the campus refectory, which has an extensive menu to suit a variety of needs.
Facilities and Support
Resident students also have use of a kitchen as a self-catering facility for periods when the refectory is closed. The kitchen includes microwaves, toasters, kettles, cookers, fridges, freezers, a dining area, and storage space for groceries and cooking utensils.
As well as a kitchen, the hall offers a common room and a garden. Free high speed broadband internet is available throughout the building. Bedrooms are cleaned weekly and all communal areas are cleaned daily.
A resident staff warden lives next door to help students settle in and to ensure that you make the most of campus life.
Cost
The cost of a room in 16 Strawberry Hill Road is £5,292 for 2012/13 for the entire academic year. Rooms can also be booked for the summer break. Contact the St Mary's International Office for more information.
