International Student

How to Apply

There is no specific deadline for international applications but if you are applying from outside the UK, you must ensure that you do so in good time for you to be able to go through the UK student visa process.

Once we receive your completed application, we will aim to get back to you within a week. Information about how long the visa process takes can be found at ukvisas.gov.uk.

Undergraduate Students

All applications for undergraduate programmes are made through UCAS. International applicants who are not currently attending a school or college need to apply for higher education in the UK through UCAS via their new web-based application system.

If St Mary's is your only choice of institution and you do not wish to indicate any other universities on your application, then we are also able to accept direct applications. Please email international@smuc.ac.uk. If you are from a country where we have official representatives, you can also apply to us with their help.

After you have been offered an undergraduate study place as an overseas student (and before we can issue a Certificate of Acceptance for student visa or student visa extension purposes) you will be asked to pay a minimum £2,000 deposit towards your tuition fees. This deposit is refundable only in case your student visa is rejected and a £500 administrative charge will be retained by St Mary's.

Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate students apply to us directly (follow the instructions on the Applications page of the programme you are interested in).

After you have been offered a postgraduate study place as an overseas student (and before we can issue a Certificate of Acceptance for student visa or student visa extension purposes) you will be asked to pay a minimum £2,000 deposit towards your tuition fees. This deposit is refundable only in case your student visa is rejected and a £500 administrative charge will be retained by St Mary's.

Dyslexia and Disability

International St Mary’s applicants are encouraged to disclose any disability they may have early in the application process. This is to ensure that an appropriate assessment of their needs can be carried out and support measures discussed and put in place before arrival.

Please contact Pat Culshaw, our Dyslexia and Disability Co-ordinator on +44(0)20 8240 4353 or email patricia.culshaw@smuc.ac.uk for further information. You may also find it helpful to read the Information for Disabled International Students leaflet issued by the Skill: National Bureau for Students with Disabilities.
