Educated in Liverpool, graduate of Liverpool University, trained as a teacher at Cambridge University. Wide experience of education in schools as a teacher and in higher education as Chaplain to both the form Notre Dame College, Liverpool and Liverpool University.
His wide experience of governance in higher education at Liverpool Hope University. Chaired the Higher Education Committee of the Bishops' Conference and until 2005 the Joint Advisory Committee for Church Colleges, a statutory committee of the Higher Education Funding Council and the Training and Development Agency for Schools.
He earned enormous respect from funding council and from the heads of Church colleges and universities for his gently assertive chairmanship of the JACCC and for his deep interest in the Church college sector.
In the year 2000 we were delighted that he joined us for the 150 th anniversary celebrations.
