Dr Glyn Howatson, Senior Lecturer in Physiology of Sport & Exercise in the School of Sport, Health and Applied Science at St Mary's University College undertook a field trip to Africa recently.
The project was headed by Dr Nico Smit of the University of Johannesburg and investigated the levels of stress induced on tiger fish during the angling catch and release process. The movement patterns and survival of the release tigerfish were then monitored.
A further research project is due to commence in 2009.
