St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Monday 8th December. Following the Mass, two important prizes were awarded.
The Feast Day Mass, celebrated by Bishop Peter Doyle, the Bishop of Northampton, was held in the University College’s chapel at 12.15 and was followed by a lunch in the campus refectory at which the St Henry Walpole Award for Teaching and Learning in 2008 was awarded to Mark Griffin for the Helios Project.
The Helios Project prepares drama students for employment through the creation of a theatre company to promote site-specific promenade performances whilst working with pupils from local primary schools.
The 2008 Equality and Diversity prize was awarded to Paula Askew, Siobhan Cockrill and Bob Vertes for recruitment of a more diverse intake into initial teacher training courses.
The Equality and Diversity prize was established this year to recognise and reward achievement and innovation that improves equality and diversity at the University College.
