Staff from School of Sport, Health and Applied Science at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham are taking part in The Race Across America (RAAM) next June.
The Race across America is a trans-continental road race spanning over 3000 miles across the USA from the West coast (Oceanside, California) to the East coast (Annapolis, Maryland). The route takes around 8-9 days to complete and has been running for 26 years. Last year, competitors in the event raised over $1,000,000 for charity.
Team Human Science is a team of four cyclists; Corinne Abraham, Mark Glaister, Tom Bennett and Jon Goodwin. Team Human Science hope to raise around £20,000 for charities and their chosen charities for this event are Leukaemia Research, SHOCC and Special Olympics Richmond.
The team is seeking support from individuals and local businesses. You can help by making a donation, match funding – companies can offer to match funds donated by the public, in-kind support such as travel, use of vehicles, equipment or food or by offering financial support towards team logistics.
The team’s involvement in the event will be publicised through university publicity literature and in the local press and the team has a website where corporate support will be advertised.
