Groundbreaking Charity Sector Training Programme Announced

St Mary’s University College is offering a groundbreaking new training programme aimed at the charity sector.

The government funded training programme, Management of Volunteers ILM Institute of Leadership and Management Qualification, starts in February 2009. The practical programme aims to fit in with the busy lives of managers and can be completed over 3 months. It offers a nationally recognised qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management for those who successfully complete the programme.

Carole Young, Director of Business Development at St Mary’s University College, said, "In tough times is important that managers build their own skills. Leading and motivating is now recognised as a useful tool for bringing out the best in staff, developing potential and achieving success through team building. The development of productive working relationships with volunteers and their managers can have real results.

"We know that as the recession hits, there will be even more challenges in the charity sector, with volunteers being the mainstay of over 80% of the charities in the UK. Their role and effort is universally recognised as being invaluable."
