The Centre for Bioethics & Emerging Technologies (CBET) was launched at St Mary’s University College this week. CBET focuses on the ethical and social implications of biomedicine and nanotechnology as well as other new technologies.
Through research, teaching, stakeholder dialogue and international networking, the centre will engage in many different key areas.
These will include ethics and philosophy; policy, law and regulation; governance and risk management; and the broad social and economic implications of leading edge technologies.
Professor David Jones, Director of the CBET, said today: “This is an exciting venture. I hope it will further enhance St Mary’s as a centre for reflection and dialogue on subjects that are important for the wider community. “
