Renowned Irish artist Bernard Canavan (pictured above right) visited St Mary’s University College, Twickenham on Friday March 27th to talk to students on the Irish Studies programme.
Bernard specialises in portraying Irish people in Britain in the 1950s and 60s and is a lecturer and founding member of History Workshop.
Bernard spoke about his personal experiences of growing up in 1950s rural Ireland, working as a navvy in London in the 60s as well as his views on modern Ireland and the current position of the Irish in London.
