Principal Attends Harlequins Match

St Mary’s University College Principal, Dr Arthur Naylor, was a special guest of Harlequins Rugby League on Saturday to mark his University College’s status as the club’s major shirt sponsor this season.

Dr Naylor went onto the pitch at the interval of their battle with Hull FC to take part in the handover of framed shirts as a symbol of the recently announced deal for this season.

The new look Harlequins shirt featuring the University College’s logo made its debut at the Twickenham Stoop in a recent game against Wigan Warriors - cementing an already strong relationship.

In recent years, coaches from Harlequins Rugby League have coached the St Mary’s University College Rugby League team to winning the BUSA championship.

Dr Naylor reiterated his view that the club and University College have many shared values when it comes to sport: "Like us, Harlequins are committed to developing strong community networks across the area and the sponsorship certainly flags up the excellent work the University College is doing in many areas of sport."

He added: "Of course, we hope that it will also encourage recruitment to a wide range of courses but our chief aim is to work widely and broadly towards advocating sporting excellence across the board."
