Fourth Human Sciences Research Forum to be Held

The School of Sport, Health and Applied Science at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, is holding its fourth annual Research Forum on Friday 15th May in the Students’ Union Hall.

The forum will officially be opened at 3pm by the Principal, Dr Arthur Naylor, and students will be presented with awards from the School for outstanding academic achievementwith their research project and for highly commended academic development. The English Institute of Sport have donated a prize for the best Applied Sport Research Project which will also be presented.

Student prize winnerWithin the School of Sport, Health and Applied Science, the final year research project is a key aspect of students' undergraduate studies.  The project requires students to make use of the knowledge they have acquired during their time at St Mary's and combine it with various skills and techniques, allowing them to produce a piece of work that reflects their understanding and expertise.  To this extent, the Research Forum gives the third year students an opportunity to demonstrate their progression from students to independent critical thinkers.

The Research Forum brings together the concept of research, teaching and learning under a single banner of scholarship while providing ideas and encouragement to 1st and 2nd year students who will undertake a research project in their 3rd year.

The School is proud to highlight the academic achievements of the students and research projects are selected to ensure a diverse array of topics is exhibited from all directorates within the School including Sport Science, Sport Rehabilitation and Health and Exercise.
