Congratulating Team Human Science

Team Human Science from St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, came 2nd in the Mixed Under 50 division in this year’s Race Across America (RAAM) and are still topping up their sponsorship.

RAAM is one of the longest running annual endurance events in the world.

Corinne Abraham, Jon Goodwin, Mark Glaister and Tom Bennett finished the 3017 mile cycle race in 6 days, 23 hours and 10 minutes arriving in Annapolis at 4:34pm. Over the journey they enjoyed themselves averaging18.07mph.

At the start of the race people asked why they were doing RAAM, they said: "Why? - Why not?! It's a phenomenal personal challenge. But it's not all about us! We are raising money for three charities."

The three charities that will benefit from the Team Human Science efforts are:

Leukaemia Research The only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin's and other lymphomas, and myeloma.

SHOCC Strawberry Hill Overseas and Community Concern aims to raise awareness of, and raise funds for, projects that challenge deprivation and poverty.

Special Olympics has a large and positive impact on the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, their families, communities and society at large. Special Olympics Richmond is specifically focussed on providing opportunities in South West London.
