A first joint conference between University College Plymouth St Mark and St John, Glyndwr University, Wrexham and St Mary’s University College, Twickenham explored how each institution can foster a culture of research and professional development in the field of Education.
The conference arose from a Leadership Foundation for Higher Education Change Academy project. Change Academy is a year-long programme which supports teams from higher education institutions, responsible for effecting major programmes of change within their university.
The conference was facilitated by Professor John West-Burnham, Professor of Educational Leadership at St Mary’s University College, who is world renowned for his teaching and research in the field of leadership within the education sector.
The three institutions have worked successfully together in the past on a Leadership Foundation funded project looking at how research can be embedded in each institution’s culture and ethos.
“Colleagues from the three institutions not only enjoyed working with each other, but the collaborative work and dialogues about how we can make learning have a real impact, the exploration deep learning and developing pro-activity still further will all have a significant and positive effect on our work. We are all looking forward to other opportunities for collaborative developments in the future,” said Dr Antony Forrest, Director of the Aquinas Centre, School of Education, at St Mary’s University College.
