False Bay’s mission is to develop people by serving as a gateway to employment, small business development, and higher education for the community.
Dr Mary Eaton, Vice Principal at St Mary’s, who attended the ceremony, said beforehand: "I am very much looking forward to the event. In recognising the skills and potential of the graduates, St Mary’s University College is confident that these postgraduates, as teachers, will continue to play an important part in the lives of their students as they go on to become part of the new South Africa”.
A message from Dr Pat Wade, former head of the St Mary’s University College’s School of Education, who had the vision to pursue the link and project before her retirement, was read by her successor, Mrs Geraldine Davies.
Dr Wade said: "I am full of admiration in having witnessed and heard accounts of the conscientious and dedicated hard work you have put into study and research to reach your goal and realise a corporate dream. St Mary’s gave you excellent tutelage, which you used intelligently and honoured to make your contribution truly worthwhile".
