School of Education Receives Full Funding

St Mary’s University College, Twickenham’s School of Education has received Training and Development Agency (TDA) funding in full for £25,400, the maximum amount that could have been awarded.

The grant award will allow the School of Education to deliver a high quality training programme to all trainee teachers.

It will enable cohorts in both primary and secondary age training to undertake an extended placement in a special school setting. The University College is now working in partnership with local special school providers to develop this opportunity further.

Mrs Geraldine Davies, Head of the School of Education at St Mary’s University College, said, "I’m delighted that our bids were successful and that this important work can be fully developed within our programmes."

St Mary’s took part in an initial phase in 2008 and in 2009 became fully involved in the project and the only member of the west London TDA cluster group to offer this programme to undergraduates in both primary and secondary phases.
