Specialist Level 3 Primary Education undergraduates from St Mary’s University College, Twickenham have planned and delivered a space themed week for the Hampton Infant School and Nursery as part of their school Science Week.
The Specialist Science week ran throughout last week and formed part of a non assessed enhancement of practice for the St Mary’s undergraduates, giving them the opportunity to teach in their chosen specialism.
The week began with the children discovering a silver box in the school playground and being shown a mock NASA video outlining that aliens had crash landed and ultimately gone missing so it was up to the children to find them.
The Children from Hampton Infant School and Nursery were engaged in a series of activities including a search of the playground looking for clues such as feathers, footprints and slime.
The children then had to decode messages from the aliens which gave information about their home planet. From these messages and the clues discovered the children then created missing posters which were placed around the school in case the alien was spotted.
