Dr Eaton Presented With Award

Dr Eaton with the awardAt a formal dinner for the Governors of St Mary’s University College, Twickenham Dr Mary Eaton was presented with the award of Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice for services to the Church in Education, in particular Higher Education.

Bishop George Stack, Chair of Governors, presented the award to Dr Eaton, former Vice Principal, who retired from St Mary’s in October 2009 after 33 years’ service.

Prinipal Dr Naylor said: “I am very pleased that Mary has been honoured in this way.  Her contribution to Catholic education, in particular over her 33 years’ service at St Mary’s in different roles, has been immense.”

Dr Eaton said: “This award is most unexpected. I have been privileged in always enjoying my work. I did a job that I think worthwhile, in a beautiful setting, with committed and congenial colleagues and life-enhancing students. It was good to be part of the Church's contribution to Higher Education.”

She added: “I have gained more than I have given by being part of St Mary's University College for so long.  For that, and for this award, I am very grateful.”
