Professional Theatre Director Sarah Esdaile visited St Mary’s University College, Twickenham last week to talk to current Drama undergraduates about her work and moving from university into her career, as well as her time spent with the Royal Shakespeare Company as Associate Director working on the Olivier Award winning productions of Henry VI parts I, II and III and Richard III.
Current Drama and Theatre Arts undergraduate Michael Blyth said, "meeting Sarah has really helped me as an actor. From speaking to a professional director I now feel better equipped to face the professional world."
Sarah has worked as a prolific and popular director in the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, the Royal Exchange Manchester and the West Yorkshire Playhouse where she is currently directing Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller.
Drama Lecturer Patsy Burn stressed the importance of events like this one: "Performance is an industry which relies on networking and liaising with professionals. Here at St Mary’s Drama department we try to give as many opportunities for our students and the professional world to come together. This is a very successful example."
