Susan Wicks, a lecturer at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has been shortlisted for the prestigious Griffin Poetry Prize from an original field of over 400 writers.
The Griffin Prize is the largest poetry prize in the world for first edition poetry collections in English and the top prize is $65,000, with $10,000 going to all finalists. The readings and prize giving will take place in Toronto on 2nd and 3rd of June.
Susan, who teaches on the MA in Creative Writing Studies: The Community, has been nominated and shortlisted for her recently published book Cold Spring in Winter, a translation of the verse sequence, Pas Revoir, by the French poet, Valerie Rouzeau, published by Arc publications.
She said "I am completely surprised and delighted by the Griffin Prize shortlisting - not least for our publisher, Arc, which is a small poetry press in rural Yorkshire. We're intending to read as well as we can in Toronto and enjoy the whole experience!"
