A delegation of senior ministry officials from Iraq and Kurdistan have just completed a fact finding visit to the School of Education at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham.
The British Council and the Youth Sports Trust, hosting this delegation, requested the opportunity for the Iraqi delegates to explore how teachers of Physical Education are trained, both in initial teacher education and through continuing professional development.
The delegation was welcomed by Head of the School of Education at St Mary's, Mrs Geraldine Davies. Staff from the School of gave presentations on primary and secondary phase training for teachers of PE as well as postgraduate opportunities.
Discussions also included the provision of continuous development of teachers once in post, Masters Degree courses, meeting children’s educational needs and school based teacher training.
There was a successful exchange of ideas and knowledge regarding teacher training in Physical Education.
