Success in European Team Championships

The Aviva GB and Northern Ireland team captained by St Mary’s University College, Twickenham athlete Mo Farah achieved 2nd place overall in the European Team Championships at the weekend.

Mo Farah ran the 5000m in 13:46.93 gaining first place, and said of the win: "The whole team has stepped up here and that's good to see. That was a similar field to what I would face in Barcelona so it is good preparation."

St Mary’s Emma Pallant took seventh place in the 3000m, marking a strong start for her senior career. The 2008 World Junior Medallist gained 6 points for team GB&NI.

Jo Pavey finished second in the 5000m, having led the field in the first eight laps of the race and only losing her advantage to German Sabrina Mockenhaupt.

Aviva GB&NI athletes will compete at the Aviva European Trials and UK Championships on 25-27 June in Birmingham.
