St Mary's Athlete Breaks Record

St Mary’s University College, Twickenham postgraduate student Steph Twell achieved a new Scottish record in the 5000m at the IAAF Diamond League athletics meeting in Brussels last month.

The record breaking time of 14.54.08 places her as the fourth fastest female 5000m athlete of all time behind Paula Radcliffe, Jo Pavey and Zola Budd.

Steph, who now also works as a graduate assistant at the University College, will compete in both the 1500m and 5000m for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi this October.
