The first of two colloquia on editing the work of the world renowned novelist Joseph Conrad, hosted by the Centre for Conrad Studies at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, will be held on Friday 1st October.
The event, which brings together scholars from universities in the United Kingdom and abroad and representatives from Cambridge University Press, marks a further stage in relocating the acclaimed Cambridge Edition of the Works of Joseph Conrad to the University College.
A volume in the series (eventually to comprise some twenty volumes), Tales of Unrest, edited by the two General Editors, Allan H Simmons and JH Stape, scheduled for publication in 2013, has recently been awarded the prestigious seal of approval from the Modern Language Association’s Committee on Scholarly Editions.
Professor Brian Robinson of the Centre for Conrad Studies said “The importance of the new Cambridge Edition of the Works of Joseph Conrad cannot be overstated. The relocation of the focus for Conrad studies to the UK and to St Mary’s University College is a major event in international literary scholarship.”
