Staff and Students Raise Money for Cystic Fibrosis

Staff and students from St Mary’s University College, Twickenham have helped to raise over £1,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Volunteers have been assisting at Tesco Superstore in Twickenham, helping customers to unload trolleys, pack bags, and fill cars. Volunteers also handed out balloons and stickers to children.

The event was organised by St Mary’s School of Sport, Health and Applied Science lecturer Dr Rob Lake, who has Cystic Fibrosis himself and is a regular fundraiser for their main charity in Britain, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

He recruited many of his students, as well as friends and family. Rob said today: “Without the help of the St Mary’s staff and students giving up their Saturdays we would not have raised so much money. I am indebted to them for their generosity, hard work and enthusiasm in helping make this event so successful.”

While working at St Mary’s, Rob has raised in excess of £20,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by organising cake sales, music concerts and raffles, as well as running marathons and completing other sporting events.
