Last week, SMUC Radio, the student run radio station at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, welcomed Liberal Democrat representative for the 2012 Mayoral Elections Brian Paddick to its studio.
The former Deputy Assistant Commissioner for the Metropolitan Police spoke to the station about his time in the Met Police, his current Mayoral campaign and the latest issues affecting the student population in the capital.
Presenter of the current affairs programme on SMUC Radio Tarik Habte, who interviewed Paddick, commented, “This has been an exciting year for the SMUC Radio station after securing interviews with several leading political figures, including Vince Cable and David Lammy.
“Therefore, I was delighted to welcome Brian to the studio and was keen to discuss his current mayoral campaign, particularly his policies which affect students today, including travel costs and youth violence in local communities.”
SMUC Radio won bronze at the Student Radio Awards 2010 for an interview with Vince Cable in the run up to the May 2010 general election.
