A student at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, has won two awards for her volunteering work in the Chinese community and her contribution to the London 2012 Olympic Games. Media Arts student Katie Wong received an award in Parliament for her voluntary work in Chinese Spectrum Radio by the British Chinese Project, an organisation that looks to elevate the presence of the UK Chinese community in the British political arena. Katie commented, “The Chinese Spectrum Radio, based in London, is the only Chinese radio station in England. I joined early last summer as part of its training scheme and have gone on to help broadcast shows and report on a number of events.” Katie also won an award in December 2012 for her volunteering work as a Chinese ambassador for the London 2012 Olympics, which was also awarded in Parliament. She won the award for her work as part of the Chinatown 2012 Goodwill Ambassador Team for the Chinese Information and Advice Hub Volunteering Programme..
