St Mary’s Students’ Union Appoints New Sabbatical Team

The Students' Union at St Mary's University College, Twickenham has recently appointed the new SU and AU President for the academic year 2013/14.

With Freshers’ Week just a month away, the Students’ Union at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has appointed a new sabbatical team to represent students over the coming academic year. Elections were held to appoint the year-long positions, which are voted for by current students and saw Aedan McDonagh elected as Students’ Union President and Pietro Palladino as Athletics Union President. The pair, along with an executive committee, will be responsible for organising student events, overseeing clubs and societies as well as offering general support to students. SU President Aedan commented, “Since I joined St Mary’s in 2010, I have taken advantage of every possible opportunity on offer, which has got me to the place I am now. I can genuinely say I have had the best three years of my life here, I am proud to call myself a ‘Simmie’ and can’t wait to get started as SU President. “My main objective for the coming year is to be a voice for the students, giving them the opportunity to express their views on everything to do with university life. Good luck to everyone studying this year, it’s set to be a great one!” AU President Pietro said, “I am delighted to have been appointed AU President and am really looking forward to helping to improve the experience for students over the next year. “As well as looking after the existing clubs and societies I am really keen to create new clubs and to help students improve their skills through training such as sports coaching courses. I’ll also be implementing the St Mary’s Yearbook, which will celebrate the life of a Simmie. “There are some big events to look forward to this year, including the annual ski trip, HallStars competition, sports and societies dinner and, of course, the West London Varsity against Brunel!” For more information about the work of the Students’ Union within the community or its clubs, societies and events, please visit the website.
