Timetable

The programme is taught through seven intensive study weekends, each of which lasts from Friday lunchtime until Monday lunchtime, plus a range of web-based support. The weekends are at roughly three-monthly intervals.

For the next intake, weekends will be as follows (exact dates will be confirmed by September 2010)

  • February 2011: Linguistic Theory
  • May 2011: English Langauge Description: Syntax and Phonology
  • September 2011: Sociolinguistics
  • December 2011: Language Acquisition
  • February 2012: ELT Methodology and Syllabus Design
  • May 2012: Optional Module
  • September 2012: Research Methods and Dissertation planning

It is therefore possible to complete the MA, including the dissertation, in 2 years.

What if I can’t finish the programme in two years?
Your registration at St Mary’s lasts for five years, so you should have plenty of time to finish. Obviously, no one should expect to take this long!
