If you are interested in developing your leadership skills in teaching and learning and curriculum management of Religious Education, St Mary’s University College is offering a specialism in Religious Education as part of the Masters in Education: Leading Innovation and Change.
If you are working in the primary, secondary or post-16 sector as a leader or an aspiring leader of Religious Education, the taught programme will provide you with the opportunity to work directly with educational colleagues as part of Religious Education learning community.
You will be guided through the programme by expert tutors in Religious Education. Over two academic years, the taught modular programme covers five Masters level modules enabling you to lead a research inquiry into an aspect of leading and managing Religious Education in the primary, secondary or post-16 sector.
The opening module of the programme, Professional Learning – specialism in Religious Education, will explore concepts and principles relating to Religious Education in the context of international, national and local agendas for change. The module will give consideration to a range of pertinent issues including curriculum management of Religious Education, Pedagogy for Religious Education in local contexts and contemporary challenges for Religious Education.
Masters participants will be required to reflect systematically on practice and consider issues related to improving the learning and curriculum leadership of Religious Education. The module serves to facilitate the development of critical thinking and reflection through engagement with literature on the leading of learning in in Religious Education.

The MA in LIAC – specialism in Religious Education will commence in the September of each academic year, and it will be based in London and regional locations.
