Radio presenter

Radio Studio

Students will have the use of a fully equipped Radio Studio, which provides a professional working environment and essential industry experience. The studio can be self-operated or driven by a technical operator and has all the facilities expected of a professional sound studio: mixing desks, talkback and microphones. In the studio, you will be able to produce talks, reports, podcasts and features for assignments.

Attached to the Radio Studio is an editing suite, comprising of Intel iMacs with Soundtrack Pro audio editing software. The Studio is located in a quiet part of the College, which lends itself well to the sensitive audio work undertaken by our students.

SMUC Radio

In addition to the radio studio, students have their own radio station – SMUC Radio (LINK). This is largely managed by students from the Media Arts undergraduate degree progamme (a sister programme to Sports Journalism) and is administered by the Students’ Union at St. Mary’s. This station contains a diversity of programming, including sport. Students studying Sports Journalism will be expected to produce output for the station.
