The Alumni Office at St Mary’s is the vital link that keeps our 27,000 alumni in touch with their alma mater and brokers opportunities to come back, and to give back, as well as working with businesses, trusts and individual philanthropists across the world to enable them to support our students, our research and our exciting, but underfunded, projects.
We have recently launched our Silver Simmarian Campaign which enables individuals to support the Student Hardship Fund by making a small monthly donation. I’m delighted to be able to report that the entire Senior Management Team at St Mary’s were the first to contribute and have all been presented with a solid silver lapel pin of the St Mary’s crest.
After a recent conversation with an alumnus living in America, we worked very closely with the International Office to provide him with the opportunity to fund seven travel bursaries to allow needy students the opportunity to spend a semester in the US. Because we are a small institution we are able to react faster, be more adaptable and offer greater stewardship than our larger peers and, although our first meeting with this gentleman was only four months ago, the seven students are already in America and reporting back to the donor in New Jersey.
Philanthropy at St Mary’s ranges from a few pounds a month for a Silver Simmarian donor pin to sponsoring scholarships, bursaries or research prizes right up to putting your name to our New Sports Block or Library with many other opportunities in-between.
If you are an alumnus, local business, friend of St Mary’s or charity trustee and would like to hear more about the many ways in which you may give something back to the local community please contact the Alumni Office.
