Research

Research is valued, encouraged and supported at St Mary’s University College. Undertaking research and scholarship is an integral part of academic life and something all academic staff at St Mary’s are expected to engage in. As well as advancing knowledge, research/scholarship underpins the curriculum and enhances the student learning experience.

Although research in the traditional sense results in a measurable outcome which makes a significant contribution to a discipline, St Mary’s values all types of research and scholarly which underpins teaching excellence and personal development activity.

Being part of a Research Group or Research Centre can be very productive, rewarding and fulfilling.

The University College offers help to researchers in the following ways:

  • research funding from School Research budgets
  • funding for postgraduate research degrees

  • advice, support and training for the submission of research grant applications via the RED team
