
St Mary’s University College, in collaboration with the St Mary's Students’ Union, is committed to ensuring that you succeed in your studies and that you are able to develop academically, personally and professionally.
We are dedicated to your development of the physical, intellectual and spiritual potential and aim to foster equality of opportunity for all and create an inclusive community for all students and staff in accordance with our mission and values.
However, as well as commitments for the University College and the Students’ Union, this also entails a commitment for yourself. This Charter sets out how we and the Students’ Union will undertake this commitment but also what we expect from you.

The University College welcomes feedback on your experience and provides channels for this purpose such as the programme boards, the Students ’ Union, the Student Support and Facilities User Group (SSF) and the Student Experience Committee (SEC).
We also recognise that there may be times when you consider we have not provided what we aim to do. We therefore have a complaints procedure which should be used to raise issues with the University College. We would ask that you do this as soon as possible so that we can seek resolution at the earliest opportunity.
St Mary’s University College is dedicated to helping you flourish personally and academically in our learning community. We want you to get the best out of your University experience.
To help us achieve this we expect you to:
1. Contribute positively to our values: equality of opportunity for all; respect for human diversity, and working towards a more just, and inclusive society.
2. Make the best use of your learning opportunities; academically, socially and in your dealings with the University College community.
3. Behave with courtesy and respect towards University College staff fellow students and campus visitors.
4. Inform and familiarise yourself with relevant procedures, regulations and information provided (e.g. handbooks, disciplinary procedures, complaints procedures, etc).
5. Seek academic and personal advice and support through the appropriate channels and services in a responsible way.
6. Respond in a timely and efficient manner in your dealings with the University College.
7. Engage constructively with the opportunities for representing your views and those of your fellow students.
8. Use all resources, accommodation and facilities with respect and consideration for all other users.
9. Take personal responsibility for promoting a safe, secure, healthy and sustainable environment.
10. Consider your engagement with the University College after graduation through the alumni association.
