Ali Gowe

Biography

Ali is a primary education lecturer. She has a B.Ed. (Hons) in Primary Education from Leeds Beckett University. Ali joined St Mary’s University in August 2022. Prior to this role, she worked in primary schools for 28 years. Ali has a wide range of teaching experience in schools, ranging from Nursery to Year 6. Her roles in school range from:

  • deputy head
  • assistant head
  • head of pre-preparatory school
  • head of Early Years and Key stage 1.

Ali was the assessment lead and Key Stage 1 moderator for the borough. She also led staff in supported the teaching, learning, and progress of children who were in receipt of the pupil premium funding. It was her passion in the role of ECT mentor that brought her to St Mary’s University. She has worked in schools across London, Kingston, Surrey, and Leeds.

At St Mary’s, Ali is a lecturer in professional studies and currently delivers modules across the work-based route programmes. She is passionate about primary education and ensuring that there are equitable opportunities for the most disadvantaged pupils. Ali is a member of the Chartered College of teaching.
