Advertising Jobs and Volunteering

St Mary’s Careers Service offers adverts to students via our JobOnline website for part-time work, full-time, internships, placements, work experience, volunteering, local and national. This is the main site that we direct students to who are searching for paid work, volunteering or work experience

. As part of The Careers Group, University of London, JobOnline can reach students not only at St Mary’s but also across the University of London, nationally and internationally as required. You can specify exactly which colleges you would like to target. Alumni also use the site.

How much does it cost?

Adverts on JobOnline are FREE if under 25 words for direct employers, so normally a link to a full description of the role on your website, otherwise there is a charge which can found on our rates cards.

How does St Mary’s Careers Service promote the vacancies?

JobOnline is heavily promoted to students when they attend sessions run by St Mary’s Careers Service, during inductions, via departments and through posters, cards and Simmspace (the student online study area).

Once adverts are on JobOnline, our Careers Assistant can advertise your vacancy / opportunity on the notice boards around campus. We have noticeboards in the department corridors, as well as in the main campus areas. Also, on our Facebook page (dependant on traffic levels) and via our Careers Liaison Tutors for more subject specific vacancies.

We also have a dedicated Teaching Facebook page for advertising NQT teaching vacancies once your advert is on JobOnline.

How do I upload my advert?

You can register for JobOnline and upload your advert.:

On a side note – students don’t need to register to view the adverts.  They can see them here or via the link on our internal portal.

If you have any difficulties uploading your advert please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Can we advertise childcare/babysitting/tutoring vacancies?

Yes.  Vacancies for childcare, babysitting and tutoring in the local area can all be advertise via JobOnline.  Once on JobOnline we promote in the same way as all our other vacancies and opportunities.

We written a short guide (PDF File) to help you advertise your vacancy online and maximise the number of students viewing your vacancy.

What is ‘Volunteering Opportunity of the Week’?

In addition to all our regular promotion channels, for volunteering opportunities, we also promote via our dedicated Facebook page and our pages on the internal student facing website SimmSpace.

We also choose one volunteering opportunity a week to receive further promotion through the Student Union, on the Notice boards and plasma screens, the main Facebook site and through the Careers Liaison Tutors to the department.  This is know as the ‘Volunteering Opportunity of the Week’.  Normally this would coincide with a presentation by the charity on campus.

"We would like to thank St Mary's University for helping find a volunteer to help us with a recent Richmond event. As a result of advertising via St Mary's Careers Service's 'volunteer opportunity of the week' we had a wonderful volunteer come and help us at the Age Concern Richmond Annual General Meeting. The AGM day was busy and our regular volunteers were able to participate in the meeting while our new volunteers helped host the event. We were delighted to welcome your St Mary's volunteer to our organisation and are so pleased that she is going to become a regular volunteer for us in Richmond." Age Concern Richmond upon Thames
