Information for Visitors

University Students and Staff

We welcome students and staff from other Higher Education institutions to the Learning Resources Centre (LRC).

SCONUL Access Scheme

St Mary’s University College participates in the SCONUL Access scheme.

Who has access to the LRC?

Staff, postgraduate students and students studying part-time are entitled to limited borrowing of items. Reference access is offered to full-time undergraduates.

How to register

  • Remember to bring both your ID card and your SCONUL Access card.
  • Borrower cards can be issued during the LRC's opening hours.
  • You will be able to borrow on your first visit (if you are entitled to borrow items).
  • If you do not already have a SCONUL Access card please speak to staff at your own university’s library. Details of the scheme can be found on the SCONUL Access website.

A SCONUL Access card does not include:

  • Access to computer facilities or electronic resources.
  • Access to some short loan items.

School / Further Education College Students

Teachers who would like to arrange a one-off visit for a small group of students are asked to contact us to discuss this and make an appointment.

Members of the Public

Members of the public who are not in Higher Education are welcome to use the Learning Resources Centre. Please note that we have stand alone catalogues in the LRC but do not have open access PCs.

Online catalogue

You may wish to make use of the online catalogue to prepare for your visit.
