Disabled Students' Allowances

The DSAs help pay for extra costs you may have to pay to study on your course, as a direct result of your disability, specific learning difficulty or mental-health condition.

The allowances can help with the cost of a non-medical personal helper, items of specialist equipment, travel and other course-related costs. 

Full-time Undergraduates /
PGCE Students

Part-time Undergraduates

Full and Part-time Postgraduates

Specialist Equipment Allowance up to £5,161 for whole of your course

Non-medical helper's allowance - up to £20,520 per year

General Disabled Students' Allowance - up to £1,724 per year

Reasonable spending on extra travel costs

Specialist Equipment Allowance - up to £5,161 for whole of your course

Non-medical helper's allowance - up to £15,390 per year, depending on the % of full time study

***

General Disabled Students' Allowance - up to £1,293 per year

***

Reasonable spending on extra travel costs

One allowance, up to £10,260 a year, to meet all costs.

This can be used for specialist equipment, non-medical personal helpers, extra travel costs or other related costs
