The funding for part-time undergraduate/foundation/PGCE students is different to the support for which full-time students are entitled.
Students beginning a course of study in 2012 will no longer be eligible for a grant to help with the cost of their fees but can apply for a tuition fee loan. Part-time students are not eligible for any loans or grants towards living costs.
Part-time PGCE students can find further information relating to fees and finance on the PGCE page
Eligible students studying 25% equivalent or higher of a full-time course will be eligible for a tuition fee loan to cover the cost of the tuition fees.
Students do not qualify for a tuition fee loan if they already hold an equivalent or higher degree (with the exception of students on a part-time course in initial teacher training).
Students will be able to apply for this loan through their awarding body:
Students from Northern Ireland
Students from other EU Countries
The date from which you can apply for 2012 has not been published.
Students with a disability may be eligible for help with extra costs you may have to pay to study on your course as a direct result of your disability.
Part-time students from England are eligible to apply for a fee waiver through the National Scholarship Programme, subject to meeting the criteria. More information can be found on our Scholarships page. The fee waiver will be awarded pro-rata to the % of full time study.
A Childcare Grant is available for parent students on low income, up to £250 per child. Application Forms will be available from the Student Services Centre at St Mary’s.
If you are studying on a part-time course, your entitlement to benefits is not affected.
