Staff Research

Research Seminars 2011/12 (PDF File)

The School of Theology, Philosophy, and History has active researchers in the areas of moral philosophy; moral theology and bioethics; psychology and religion; the history, religion and culture of the Middle East; modern British history; and both early and late-modern European history. Much of this research is focused in the Holy Land Research Project , the Centre for Religion and History and the Centre for Bioethics and Emerging Technologies (CBET)

Holy Land Studies: A Multidisciplinary Journal, is produced by the Holy Land Project. The Centre for Religion and History and CBET contribute to national debate and discussion on important issues, as well as holding conferences and producing publications. The School also has its own programme of research seminars at which both staff and postgraduate members of the School present their work.

The published output of the School is considerable, with monographs, textbooks, edited collections and journal articles in its several disciplines. In the 2008 RAE, the ratings achieved by the work presented by those who now form the staff of the School recognised that it reached a standard of national excellence and included considerable internationally-recognised research.
