We bring together a wide range of courses in literature and language, to provide you with a stimulating programme in which you can direct the emphasis towards language, or literature (including options in creative writing), or achieve a balance of both.We aim to provide a broad and balanced subject knowledge and explore the place of language and literature in a variety of historical, social, and cultural contexts.
The programme is aimed at students who are receptive to ideas and eager to explore them at university level with tutors who (as students say in ‘leaving surveys’ year after year) are open, friendly and available to help.
We also have an active research culture, and encourage and guide students who wish to follow further courses of study at postgraduate level.
