Teaching and Assessment Methods

Teaching Methods

As Irish Studies is quite a small programme, much of the teaching takes place in groups of perhaps 10–15 students, and is based around lively discussion in seminars that follow one hour formal lectures. Our small size also enables us to provide regular one-on-one tutorials for individual students.

Assessment Methods

In Level 1 students are assessed solely by coursework assignments such as essays. Your tutor or lecturer will assist you throughout the year in refining your writing style and helping you with any particular difficulties. In Level 2 and 3 there are also some written examinations. In addition students are assessed on their contribution to seminars.
