Sport Rehabilitation

A modern programme that provides skills and knowledge for the management of musculoskeletal injury, progressing on to health and fitness training programmes.

Level 2

At level two, students begin to synthesise modules and begin to design rehabilitation / fitness programmes that relate to the client assessment findings. An overview of initial treatment and rehabilitation procedures that can be used by sport rehabilitators is included to sensitise students to the management of injury at the early stages.  In addition, the programme will introduce the students to the main principles and practices of strength, conditioning and training programme design.

This will be further developed at level three. Assessment skills are developed to include a holistic approach that considers the sociological and psychological aspects of both acute and chronic injury. The modules and the skills that they introduce are reinforced during clinical placements - this 30 credit module involves 2 block placements during which the students begin to practice their assessment and treatment skills, whilst under the supervision of qualified practitioners.

These practitioners will be mainly B.A.S.RaT accredited members and Chartered Physiotherapists. Specialist modules in clinical biomechanics and nutrition expand the student’s knowledge base in the analysis of movement and the impact of nutrition on healing, recovery and performance.
