Sport Rehabilitation

A modern programme that provides skills and knowledge for the management of musculoskeletal injury, progressing on to health and fitness training programmes.

Level 3

Work at level three is intended to develop the students’ ability to implement knowledge through investigative skills and to develop the ability to work with increasing independence.

The inclusion of individual projects allows students to pursue systematically an in-depth topic of their own interest, many of which will have direct bearing on future vocational possibilities and areas for further research. This area of study is identified at level two by the student, in consultation with prospective tutors.

The development of specialist skills is encouraged further to include working with special populations (GP referral schemes), in the area of chronic pain management and an ‘Factors’ modules which includes – drugs in sport, helaing and recovery, environmental effects on performance and the assessment and design of fitness programmes.

These modules reflect the variety of additional vocational skills that have been identified by graduates. The professional skills strand is developed Clinical Placement II during 2 further block placements.
