Programme Description
Tourism is the fastest growing industry employing in the region of 8.1% of the global workforce in 2003 and contributing on average 10% to total world GDP.
Examining how we might manage tourism activities in a more sustainable and ethical way is a key aim of the course. You will gain a sound knowledge of the tourism industry and the business environment as well as acquiring a range of subject specific and transferable skills.
Your degree will arm you with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to work in a wide range of tourism management contexts as well as preparing you to meet the challenges of developing and managing tourism activities in a sustainable way.
Fieldwork opportunities, both at home and abroad, will enable you to apply concepts and ideas in ‘real world’ situations and to engage with tourism issues in a practical context.
"The course seems both realistic and imaginative in the current employment environment. The optional managment modules with tourism studies have the potential to give students competitive advantage in local, regional and international employment options. Careful thought has been given to the mix of modules available to students."
