After your registration day, there will be a series of events for you to attend. It's vital that you attend as important information will be given to you, without which you'll struggle at the start of your programme of study.
There will be a wide selection of social activities during the first week and beyond, as well as a Freshers' Fair at which the various clubs and societies promote their activities. Please see the Students' Union (SU) Facebook page for further details of Freshers' Week, which will be announced as they're confirmed.
University College meetings include welcome meetings on Monday 12th September and various important meetings for resident students on that Monday and the Tuesday.
Induction Meetings for Overseas Students
Overseas students on full degree undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (but not Erasmus / Study Abroad programme students) should attend one of the following induction sessions:
Erasmus / Study Abroad programme students will attend separate induction sessions, details of which will be given when you arrive at St Mary's.
You'll also have programme meetings, where important information about your programme of study will be given out, including timetables and details of which tutorial groups you'll be in.
At these meetings you'll have the opportunity to meet academic staff members and fellow students, and you'll be introduced to the learning resources for your programme (LRC, SimmSpace etc). Most programmes will hold two meetings, please see the programme meetings timetable for further details.
Please make the effort to attend all of these events since missing them may place you at a significant disadvantage compared to other students. Your Programme Director has written a welcome letter, please read it carefully before registration.
If you are a resident student, you should register with the University College’s Health Centre. You may also wish to do this if you live locally. You must bring your medical card with you to registration. If you do not currently have one, one can be obtained from your current doctor. Times and the venue for medical registration are given in the Induction Week Timetable (PDF File)
The full teaching timetable will commence on Monday 19th September. We've put together an indicative timetable that will give you an idea as to when teaching on your programme will take place and will help you fill in the student experience survey you must complete prior to registration (see above).
