Community-focused initiatives

Parking/driving awareness campaign

Launched in September 2009 to raise awareness amongst students who park in the surrounding residential area of parking/driving issues including:

  • Avoiding speeding when driving through the local area
  • Avoiding parking inconsiderately e.g. over driveways, taking up large spaces, near corners, etc
  • Observing parking restrictions in place in many of the roads around the University (e.g. Field End)
  • Using public transport to travel to the University as an alternative to driving

Safer neighbourhood surgeries

Drop-in surgeries held by local Safer Neighbourhood Police to discuss community concerns and issues, crime prevention information and mobile phone security marking.

These sessions are open to all local residents - future dates for these will be announced on the  Dates for Your Diary page.

Shsssshh! campaign

Aimed at reminding students on an ongoing basis to "respect our neighbours and be quiet and respectful on your way home."

Flyering in the area
