Student Wins Paracycling Tandem Tour

Corrine Hall, final year Sports Science student at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, has won this weekend’s Belgium Paracycling Tandem Tour after being selected to represent Great Britain. Corrine was named as a Paralympic Development Programme athlete earlier this year and this competition was her first time piloting for Great Britain’s Gold medal winner Lora Turnham (UCI Paracycling Road World Cup in Segovia, Spain). The competition, which took place from 9^th to 13^th May, was the first for the Great Britain Paracycling squad since the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Teams from Europe and the USA took part in the 27^th annual Tandem Tour of Belgium, which sees cyclists take part in six different events including time trials, road races and the velodrome. St Mary’s Programme Director Richard Blagrove, who provides strength and conditioning support to Corrine said, “This is a fantastic result for Corrine, particularly as this is her first time piloting a partially sighted cyclist. It is very promising in the build-up to the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.”
