Leading Academic Contributes to Arts and Humanities Conference

Anna Lise Gordon at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham recently presented research of using creative writing with trainee teachers during a Conference

Anna Lise Gordon, PGCE Programme Director at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham recently spoke about her research and experience of using creative writing with trainee teachers during a two day Arts and Humanities Conference called Storyville. Anna Lise delivered a Poster Presentation (pdf) at the conference which aimed to explore the use of stories in teaching and learning. Anna Lise’s poster called ‘The Mirror in the Suitcase – Developing Resilience on the Journey as an Early Career Teacher’, allowed her to share some of her experiences of using creative writing with trainee teachers as part of their reflective practice, and to inform her doctoral research. During the same week, Anna Lise along with colleagues Irena Grounds (Senior Lecturer, School of Education) and Lise Georgeson (Academic Director, Research and Knowledge Transfer), presented short papers at a University of Brighton conference that focused on engaging with different aspects of methodology within professional doctoral studies. Last year, Anna Lise was awarded a prestigious National Teaching Fellowship award from the Higher Education Academy. She was selected from more than 180 nominations for her excellence in higher education teaching and learning support and was awarded with £10,000 to be used for professional development in teaching and learning or aspects of pedagogy.
