An Exciting Start to the Academic Year for Drama St Mary’s Students

First year students from St Mary's University College, Twickenham are starting the new academic year with a trip to the Apollo Theatre in London's West End.

First year Drama students at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham are kick starting their three year course with a special invitation to see a closed door dress rehearsal for the new cast of the National Theatre’s award winning production of The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night Time. The original production, which imaginatively adapts Mark Haddon’s book of the same name into a magical theatrical event, picked up a record equalling, seven, Laurence Olivier Awards at last year’s ceremony before transferring to the Apollo Theatre in the heart of London’s West End. Drama St Mary’s Academic Director, Mark Griffin commented, “From the first week they arrive we’re keen to offer our students real chances to see how theatre in the UK is made. The chance to sit with the director and creative team and observe the way in which new actors find their feet in established roles is an excellent way to begin exploring this process. The fact we’re behind the scenes with such a wonderful production makes it all the more special.” The Drama Programmes at St Mary’s are welcoming 101 new students onto their courses this September.
