Aisling Gilbert

Biography

Aisling graduated from Kingston University in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in English and Drama with QTS. She began her career as a Year 1 class teacher and became head of PE in 2001. Aisling has taught across Reception – Year 7 in both academics, arts, and sports and has been head of geography and history. She has worked in schools in Surrey and Berkshire and has worked with both the National Curriculum and the Primary Years programme for the International Baccalaureate. In the latter, Aisling has designed and written units of inquiry for KS2 children.

Aisling joined St Mary’s University in 2022. She works within the geography and computing team, teaching and lecturing to both undergraduates and PGCE students.

Aisling is passionate about supporting future teachers as they embark upon their careers and finding ways to enable them to succeed in their roles. Aisling believes in a compassionate, kind, and supportive environment for working and learning and this is something that she advocates in her work as a personal tutor and as a link tutor to St Mary’s students.
